Here it is New Year’s Eve! I am so happy to end the year with a few days off and getting the chance to read, learn, and play. Today will be no exception.
While reading I become more motivated about having this business. I am realizing that wealth is not an instant gratification scenario. You have to put in the work and more work in order to just get started. Often MLM businesses are pitched that you can make more money than ever in “this” business. Although that may be true, it is the hard work that needs to occur before any of the wealth will appear. You still need to build your business so you have a solid foundation.
Today, I will be making plans for 3 months out for my WebEx presentations and a loose calendar for the remainder of the year. My calendar this year will include WebEx presentations, group meetings, planned networking events, home meetings and so on. Once they are calendarized and action items attached to them, then that activity will happen. If I do not calendarize then my actions are less likely to happen with any consistency.
I know that setting goals is also important for running a business and this year will be no exception. I will be setting sales goals for each quarter and then breaking that down into the months for tracking purposes. Yes, tracking is also a crucial element and my training background and working with large corporations has shown me that tracking is crucial to success. If you do not know where you are, then how do you know how to steer the boat in the right direction.
Today I had the opportunity to talk to two individuals while they were waiting for their wives at the surgery clinic today. I got my stitches out and others were just waiting. What a good place to just talk to others without any pressure on talking about the business. It is so key to talk to everyone. We (actually my husband) talked to more people in the grocery store line up. We keep spreading the smiles and hellos.
I just finished reading an email from a person that agreed to sign up under another good friend. Of course he said he was too busy with other things and was not interested although he would help promote it. That confuses me as he has time to promote it but not do the business. I guess that is the way he sees it for now. Things change and the no may turn into a future yes. Let’s see.
Happy New Year to everyone! I am having a quiet dinner with my husband and then watch the New York ball descend the tower at midnight – best way to celebrate, in the company of loved ones.

Day 69
Waking up to sunshine is such a joy! It may be cool outside but the sun always brings out the best in me and the rest of my world. I wake up refreshed and ready to tackle anything that comes my way.
I have found that I have lists and lists of things to do that still sit in my head. For some reason they never seem to hit the page where I can check them off. I know from my business experience that I need to put these items in a place where they stare me in the face until they are completed. Instead, I simply pile the papers or the books in a stack and simply stare at them as “I have to get to these today” (and we all know that procrastination sets in rapidly if something else catches our attention).
My list includes getting my QuickBooks up-to-date, writing several articles for posting, doing this blog (this is easy as it is like brushing my teeth in the morning, it is now a habit), putting my activities plan in place (as I talked about in my last WebEx seminar) for the New Year and generally filling my calendar with activities and follow-ups and finally I want to do another French lesson. This is my indulgence to get back to speaking French and thank goodness that is my husband’s mother tongue and he helps me with the pronunciations.
Let’s just see how the day will progress.
I wonder why people do not do as they say they will? Is it they do not want to say NO to your face in case they hurt your feelings or you will no longer consider them a friend? In my opinion it is not taking responsibility for your own actions. I know for myself I will say “Not now”. In reality that opens up the door for further communication for something I do not want. I would be better off to say NO. I have a friend that is always promising to do things for me and has yet to deliver.
It always seems that I end up doing all the work with no results. I woke up this morning with the notion that I must certainly take ownership of the process. I should be the one saying – here is the opportunity, here are the facts, are you interested? If the answer is YES then here is what YOU have to do and here is what I will DO for you. Then hold everyone to their deliverable! Easier said than done!
I am currently reading a book that mentioned getting a mentor. Although I agree with that statement, I think you need to have a mentor that will actually help you achieve your goals. In other words, write down a list of people you think would be good mentors and then target that list to get one of those people to help you. A mentor is important when you lack expertise in certain areas of business. In the MLM industry everyone can be a success but a really big success usually has more business experience and knows how to put it together.
Well I guess there is always some confusion when you run your own business. Today a speaker I had booked for January 20th had put our event down for the wrong date and therefore was double-booked. Thank goodness I was first to book him and had a confirmation. The right thing to do was to go with the first person you booked with and move the other event out a week or two. As I believe in the honest and truthful nature of people, I knew that this would be the correct choice!
If you are around on January 20th – Jim Britt will be speaking at the Dublin Hyatt (right near the movie theatres at Hacienda and Dublin Blvd). This is an event not to be missed. Jim is the best! You can preregister at the http://www.WealthAndHealthNetwork.com
I hope to see you there!

Day 68
The days can go by so quickly when you are on vacation. You have plans to get in some extra activities such as seeing a movie, going for a walk or two and then there is the eating portion! Socializing is always on your mind and business tends to fade off into the background. You sometimes feel that you should let go of the business and just live your life without trying to build anything – stick with the day job and go from paycheck to paycheck. I have often thought that over the past few days as I recover from my surgery and start to doubt my ability to build this business into any substantial.
The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that the product itself is incredible. I stopped taking it while having the surgery and a few days afterwards. I was recovering ok. I then decided that I needed to get back on the product and see if there would be a difference. I was blown away with the difference in my energy and the speeding up of the healing of my wounds. The difference was almost a miracle in the healing but also for my change in attitude towards the world.
The interruptions of the holidays will continue with the chaos of the household, my business is still top of mind but gently pushed behind the scenes as the family demands attention, my reading is sporadic but I am determined to finish a book or two. It is like a symphony of chores, tasks, enjoyment and work; when it all comes together, the music is incredible and it puts a smile on your face.

Day 67
Monday again, my stitches from my minor surgery last week are finally started to take hold and heal. I am happy to have that part of my life over and move on to further enjoyment. I did some more reading early this morning in the Chris Howard book. Great book as it provides me with a lot of fuel for thought as to making my business a success.
He is now teaching me how to weave both the negative and positive aspects of my life into a story that will spur me forward to the future. In other words, I had the chance to write about how the negative impacted my life through lessons learned so that it lead to the positive side. I, being the ever optimist and ever positive person (well learned from my mother – one of the kindest people that ever lived) had a difficult time looking at the negatives that have occurred in my life.
We were to spend ten minutes writing our story into the future using these events – not a problem, I wrote for 30 minutes with ease. It seems like such a good exercise to release those negatives by seeing the positive impact they had on how I have been able to survive and move forward.
And what about the business today?
I just finished reading some more interesting facts. It was an analogy to a lunch line – the line seems to be long and patience is often hard to come by. If you keep jumping lines you may end up farther back and eating later than if you had stayed in the first line. Patience is sometimes difficult when you are trying to build a business. I know that for most of my life I have dabbled in everything but never really successful to the end because I lose interest if I am not making profits quickly. This has probably been my biggest downfall so far. I need to focus on the business and then add to the core of that business for a long period of time.
I am realizing that I have not added many people to my organization at this point in time and that I will need to start a fresh to connect with others. I will return to my original list of people and actually pick up the phone or visit them. It is the personal contact that will help (according to my mentor). Today I am putting together a plan for using social networking sites. You will see links to other media now on this blog.

Day 64, Day 65, Day 66
Christmas, Boxing Day and a day of clean up. The holidays are quite a whirlwind. It sometimes takes a couple of days to celebrate and recoup including putting plans together for the next year. I spent time reading books that will help me further my business.
I am particularly engrossed in reading Chris Howard Instant Wealth at the moment, his words are profound and ring true with the way I think about my life.
I am truly excited about where I will be taking my business and what I will do with the wealth it will create.
It is interesting as we try to do nothing over the holidays. It never seems to work that well with me, I need that time to reflect on what I am doing, where I am going and why the heck I am trying to do this business. Don't get me wrong, I am still focused on building the business as far as it can possibly be taken. I am realigning how I plan on accomplishing the goal.

Day 63
Christmas Eve and I get to wrap some presents if my husband would not be in the same room as me! It is hard to wrap them with sneak peekers around. My neighbor dropped off a package for us and wants to talk about what I am doing for the business after the 27th. I will make sure I add her contact information to my follow up list.
Somehow I feel that I should put business to the side over the next couple of days and then something inside says, “Do Something EVERYDAY to promote your business”. I know I vowed to talk to two people or more each day and so far I have talked to one. I wonder where the other one will come from.
There is always a surprise when you connect with others on a constant basis. It is not a chore but simply a way of life. Using this way of life to direct your business is always the easiest. I just checked my emails and lo and behold, an email from someone I have not talked to in years. I guess this will be person number two for me today.
By the way, if you are interested in Social Media consider registering for the summit being held online and Live in Sedona. http://socialmediamastermindlive.com/ The date for the event is January 14 and 15, 2010

Day 62
Interesting response when I finally talked to my friend, she said no one confirmed with her although I have the email stating that time and date works for me. I will take the ownership of this one. It is a lesson for me to make sure I follow up the day before a call to re-confirm, at least this way I will have better control on those that are going to bail out.
Today my face is in a lot of pain and I was not too sure how I would connect with anyone at all! It hurt to move, talk and even sit up. Thank goodness for all the emails I had been sending! One of my customers is now putting herself on autoship to get the product when she wants it. Although she is only ordering the tablets, it is a good start. I emailed her back and told her exactly how to handle the transaction and if she had any problems she could call me. She was also made aware that I keep a small stock in hand just in case a customer needs the product before their shipment arrives.
On another note, today we left a gift and card for our postal worker that has been servicing our home for the past 7 years. Although I cannot go outside and talk to anyone yet (my face is too sore) I was sure to pass on a happy holiday wish.
Tomorrow is Christmas eve and I am sure there will be a flurry of last minute shopping. I will send out a special reminder to my customers about ordering for the new year.
One last thing today, I am putting on a twice a month webinar for developing business skills and will be looking for guest speakers. Who better than someone I had sponsored. I sent a query to find out their availability for January 12th. The topic is how to network effectively when attending a trade show. Should be a great talk! And help him to promote his events at the same time.
